“NO HE DIDN’T!” The voice of Ron Brown’s wife (Episode 4 Teaser)

Miriam Rudder demonstrating Rhonda's attitude

Miriam Rudder demonstrating Rhonda’s attitude

“No he didn’t!” says Rhonda Brown, in response to her husband’s spiel in the Episode 3 Teaser. “I don’t believe it. Did Ron actually call me–his wife–a ‘stank ho’ on the World Wide Web? Now my jealous girlfriends will read this crap. And oh my God, even my employer might see Ron’s message. What about the job interview I went on last week? Everybody and their momma now know what’s going on behind our closed doors. I’m so mad, I’m breathing fire. Listen fans, you have to know the whole story, not just from Ron’s point of view. Remember, there are two sides to every story and I need you to hear my side.

So, in response to my husband’s total disrespect of me and my feelings in the Episode 3 Teaser, I am inviting you into our world so you can decide for yourself. Go to Smashwords and use the code KR76Y to download your copy of The Missing Five for only $1.98 from now until the end of January.

“Happy New Year” from the Cast of The Missing Five

The Missing Five Cover SmashwordYou question our use of the word “cast.” We don’t care that we are not actors in a play, film, or television show. Well not yet; but we are counting on it happening some day soon.

At this moment in time, we don’t care that we are fictional characters in Gwen Pegram’s debut novel, The Missing Five. Yes, she created us; but, YOU, her fans, breathed life into us by reading her book, enjoying our antics, even commiserating with us and giving her feedback on what you want to see in her sequel.

Oh yeah, did she neglect to mention it? There will be a sequel in 2014, and who knows, maybe a trilogy in 2015. You see, we enjoy being a figment of her imagination and our dream is to be on the big screen.

Our plan is to hound her in all of 2014 on marketing to get our name out there so we can become as real as she imagined us to be. And guess what, it’s working too because a little birdie informed us that she is entering her debut novel, The Missing Five, in three book awards for 2014–The Foreword Book of the Year Award, the Indie Book Award, and Writer’s Digest Book Award. These awards are for indie authors who published a novel in 2013.

This is how confident she is in herself and how much she believes in us, her fictional characters. And you already know that once she has a dream, there’s no stopping her.

We leave with you, her fans, a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.”

And, that’s our goal.

Happy New Year.

Preparing for 2014 – “Ring Out the Old, Ring in the New”

Ralph Waldo EmersonYesterday @ShomariStone twittered one of my all-time favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Emerson was a brilliant 19th Century American essayist, lecturer, and poet.

On that note, I bring to you another of Emerson’s quotes that I believe should be at the top of your New Year’s list of resolutions, one which will definitely start my celebration at midnight.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

I wish everyone nothing but happiness as you bring in the New Year.

An Author is Born via Createspace

The Missing Five Cover SmashwordOn November 3, 2013, I became an Author when I self-published my debut novel, The Missing Five by Gwen Pegram.

It has been a week since I have seen my novel in print and the excitement is only escalating. And, it’s not because the number of sales are increasing, it’s all attributed to the rush of feelings I am experiencing. Of course, I would love to sell a million books and get a movie deal; but, if it doesn’t happen, it’s okay because it will not extinguish the euphoria I am feeling knowing now that I can call myself an Author.

I’m an AUTHOR — hallelujah! And this is another accomplishment I have scratched off my bucket list of things to do and see before I die.

A little more than a year ago, when I penciled my first draft of just 50 pages–the storyline had been simmering for 30+ years–it was just another project I had started, like so many others, which I threw to the side without another thought. Read more
